Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know:
• the general structure of the modern Ukrainian language;
• units and phonetic, lexical, morphological, syntactic levels of the Ukrainian language; functions of units of structural levels of the Ukrainian language (from the school educational course);
• basic information (from a school educational course) about human anatomy and physiology, as well as having elementary ideas about the physical nature of sound.
Be able
• express one's own opinions and judgments based on knowledge from the "Introduction to Linguistics" course;
• make a phonetic analysis of units of the Ukrainian language.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize students with the theoretical and practical aspects of studying the phonetic structure of the modern Ukrainian literary language, with its segmental and suprasegmental subsystems, orthoepic norms; development of abilities and skills to transcribe texts, recognize changes in sounds in the speech flow and find out the phonetic reasons for these changes; assimilation in full of the orthoepic norms of the Ukrainian literary language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: lecture, practical session, laboratory session, independent work
Activities: oral answer, written answer, listening to recordings of literary speech, final control task.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is an exam.
According to the types of works, a student can score the following number of points:
practical/laboratory lesson: – from 0 to 2 points (5x11 = 55 points);
written work - from 0 to 2 points;
final test - from 0 to 10 points;
The final grade is formed as the sum of all points scored during the semester (36-60) and exam points (24-40):
0-59 – unsatisfactory, 60-74 – satisfactory, 75-89 – good, 90-100 – excellent.
