Learning outcomes
PRN 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state, Polish, English and Lithuanian languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PRN 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PRN 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the state, Polish, English and Lithuanian languages. PRN 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction and characterize language phenomena and processes that cause them PRN 14. To use Polish, English and Lithuanian languages in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully master the course, the student must know orthographic, grammatical, lexical and stylistic norms of the literary English language; grammatical and lexical material in the amount provided by the program of the I, II and III years of study; have basic theoretical knowledge of the basics of linguistics (general linguistics and German studies).
Course content
The program involves comprehensive language teaching: all aspects of the language are studied in parallel with the development of speaking skills and abilities and learning to communicate. The content of the discipline covers the main concepts and theories of the study of the English language, the specifics of professional terminology, methods of researching the phenomena of the modern English language, the analysis of modern views on debatable linguistic problems (the problem of word meaning, homonymy and polysemy, the categories of number and case, the problem of gender, different views on verbs categories, communicative and structural sentence types). The subject of the course is the basic fundamental concepts and categories that underlie a holistic view of the lexical-grammatical structure and stylistic features of the modern English language.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses at seminars (minimum 2 presentations). Current written works (4 written works). Final grammar test. During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of works and the form of the counter. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures.
