Learning outcomes
PLR 2. To work with information effectively: to select necessary information from different sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases; to analyze and interpret it critically; to arrange it and make proper classification and systematization. PLR 3. To organize the process of learning and self-education. PLR 4. To understand fundamental principles of human existence and nature in the contemporary scientific picture of the world, as well as fundamental principles of society with the aim of realization man’s rights and duties as a member of society, awareness of the rule of law, human rights and freedoms and rights and freedoms of a citizen of Ukraine.

Students must: 1. be able to interpret the basic laws of natural sciences; 2. have the skills of independent information search and its generalization.
Course content
The discipline belongs to the mandatory educational components. It occupies a central place in the natural science training of a philologist and cultural expert, integrating the knowledge of all natural disciplines into the humanitarian sphere. The teaching of this discipline is aimed at students' theoretical mastery of the basics of ecology, environmental protection and balanced nature management and the ability to use the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities for ecological management of all the diversity of technological and social systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
A student’s final grade is based on a 100-point grading system. The total score is made up of the scores earned for the performance during the term (max. 100, min. 60 points). Formative assessment involves progress test papers (40 points) and end-of-end module test papers (60 points). A ‘Pass/fail’ assessment is based on the outcomes of the course performance during the term and does not involve any additional assessment events. To succeed in the pass/fail assessment, students are required to gain a passing grade of 60; students fail if the score is below 60. A detailed description of the assessment criteria of the coursework is presented in the course curriculum made public on the website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
