Learning outcomes
PRN 17. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or learning.
PRN 20. Know the problems of modern Polonistics as a separate direction of Slavic studies and demonstrate a holistic system of professional knowledge that determines the social significance of the future profession.
PRN 22.2. Have the skills to interpret and translate Polish and Lithuanian texts of various styles and genres.
PRN 23.2. Apply knowledge from the field of Balto-Slavic linguistic and cultural continuum in the practice of translation.
PRN 24.2. Apply methods and strategies established in translation studies for oral and written translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before studying this course the students should know the basic categories of literary speech theory. Master the technique of artistic expression; have skills of artistic-aesthetic analysis of the texts that belong to various literary genres; critically assess the analyzed phenomena and professional information sources
Course content
The purpose of the course is to familiarize with the history of formation and terminological apparatus, theoretical foundations of translation analysis of texts;
to learn to analyze Polish and Ukrainian texts for the purpose of further translation; improve the skills of interpreting texts of various genres and styles at the macro and micro levels; development of the theoretical foundations of the translation of an artistic text and subsequent formation of the skills of performing an adequate literary translation of fragments of prose, poetic and dramatic texts of the original work. The course is aimed at getting acquainted with modern theories and approaches to the translation of artistic works; with types, genres and compositional structure of artistic works, principles, methods and models of translation of various text genres at all stages of translation activity

Educational activities during the semester: synopsis of primary sources, practical classes, presentations, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of works and the form of the examination. Final intermediate control evaluates the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures
