Learning outcomes
PRN 7. To understand the main problems of Arabic philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PRN 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Arabic language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Arab fiction and oral folk art, to determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Arab and Ukraine. PRN 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PRN 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply them in professional activities.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Arabic language: intermediate level", "Linguistic studies of the countries of the Arab East" and parts of the complex disciplines "History of Arabic literature", "Introduction to philology", "Literary studies and foreign literature". Knowledge of features of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar of the modern standard Arabic language obtained from a practical language course.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the best examples of prose and poetic works of Arabic literature of the 19th-20th centuries. through their sociocultural reading and literary analysis, to give an idea of the development of the literary process in the countries of the Arab East in the 19th-20th centuries. primarily Egypt and Lebanon and Arab emigrant literature, its features and characteristics, the development of literary and critical thought in Arab countries, outline the place of Arabic literature in the 19th-20th centuries. in world literature.
