Learning outcomes
PRN 7. To understand the main problems of Arabic philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PRN 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Arabic language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Arab fiction and oral folk art, to determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Arab and Ukraine. PRN 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PRN 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Arabic language: intermediate level", "Linguistic studies of the countries of the Arab East" and parts of the complex disciplines "History of Arabic literature", "Introduction to philology", "Literary studies and foreign literature". Knowledge of features of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar of the modern standard Arabic language obtained from a practical language course.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the best examples of prose and poetic works of Arabic literature of the 19th-20th centuries. through their sociocultural reading and literary analysis, to give an idea of the development of the literary process in the countries of the Arab East in the 19th-20th centuries. primarily Egypt and Lebanon and Arab emigrant literature, its features and characteristics, the development of literary and critical thought in Arab countries, outline the place of Arabic literature in the 19th-20th centuries. in world literature.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, tests, defense of the presentation) and for independent work (preparation of an essay). All types of work for the semester have a total of: - in the maximum dimension - 100 points, - in the minimum dimension - 60 points. In case of absence from the seminar session, the student must complete the assignment for the seminar. Final assessment: credit
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "not counted". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must compose material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent papers, in order to pass the credit.
