PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (Arabic and French) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Arabic language, describe the sociolinguistic situation in the countries of the Arab East. PLO 10. To know the norms of the literaryArabic and French languages and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 14. To use Arabic and French in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21. To apply knowledge of linguistic and regional studies of the countries of Arab East, history of relations between Ukraine and the countries of the East.

Successful mastering of the disciplines “The Arabic: basic level”, “The Arabic language: intermediate level”, “Linguistic and regional studies of the Arab East countries”

The goal of the academic discipline is to form a general idea of students about the territorial variability of the Arabic language, taking into account sociolinguistic and linguistic aspects, to give an integrated description of modern Arabic dialects. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a mainly practical direction.

The discipline involves practical classes designed for active work of students in the classroom. The explanation of new language material is accompanied by the teacher's control of the students' assimilation of new knowledge through their oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular tests. Listening homework is mandatory.

Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written assignments, tests, lexical dictations, translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
