Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (Arabic and French) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Arabic language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Arabic language, describe the sociolinguistic situation in the countries of the Arab East. PLO 10. To know the norms of the literary Arabic and French languages and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 14. To use Arabic and French in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Knowledge of the basics of the grammatical terminology of the Ukrainian language.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to teach students the basics of the Arabic language, to ensure the formation of phonetic, lexical and grammatical Arabic language competences in them, as well as mastery of the main types of speech activity (reading, speaking, writing and listening) within the conversational topics provided by the program. The discipline is the first part of the complex discipline "Practical Course of Arabic" and has a purely practical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline involves only practical classes aimed at forming phonetic, lexical and grammatical skills of students in the process of active work in the classroom. Control of students' assimilation of lexical and grammatical material is carried out by organizing written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, independent and modular control works. Completion of homework, translation exercises, and prescription according to the sample is mandatory.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation is based on: answers to practical classes, written assignments, lexical dictations, homework, prescriptions according to the sample - 24/40 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam); the exam takes place in written and oral form, the exam ticket contains three questions of a practical nature: 1) questions on grammar learned during the semester; 2) conversational topic from among those studied during the semester; 3) reading and oral translation of an unfamiliar text from Arabic into Ukrainian. Rating scale: 90-100 points - excellent, 75-89 - good, 60-75 - satisfactory, 1-59 - unsatisfactory. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
