Learning outcomes
PLO .7 To understand the factors of ethnocultural dynamics, the principles of periodization of ethnocultural processes, their specific features and characteristics.
PRN 8. Interpret ethno-cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and defined methods, present reasoned conclusions about their content.
PRN 10. Recognize and classify different types of ethno-cultural products, determine their quality characteristics based on comprehensive analysis.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students should know periodization and main events from the history of Ukraine, to have factual material from ancient history and new history of Ukraine.
Be able to independently conduct ethnographic research using the method of direct observation, ethnosociological and other methods; to identify ethnic empirical material in matters of its genesis, functions, cultural and everyday relations with other ethnic groups; to give historical and ethnographic characteristics of different regions of Ukraine; to make a historical and cultural analysis of phenomena and objects of the material and spiritual culture of Ukrainians, ethnic tradition through consideration of customs, ceremonies, technologies, etc.
Possess elementary skills of abstracting a scientific text, analysis of historical sources.
Course content
Purpose of discipline - the formation of a systematic understanding among students about the process of district formation and zoning, historical (historical-geographical) and historical-ethnographical regions of Ukraine, their boundaries and taxonomic levels, the main milestones of historical development and the peculiarities of traditional culture.
Annotation. The course consists of two content modules.
The first module introduces the system of key concepts of regional issues; factors and stages of the district formation process in Ukraine; history and zoning criteria; the evolution of the administrative-territorial system; historical (historical-geographic) and historical-ethnographic regions of Ukraine.
The second module is dedicated to the study of historical (historical-geographical) and historical-ethnographic regions of Ukraine: their taxonomic levels, boundaries, main milestones of historical development, specific features of traditional material and spiritual culture.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 2 content parts. The first part of the course is "System of key concepts of regional problems. Zoning as a scientific and practical problem", the second part of the course - "Historical and historical and ethnographic regions of Ukraine". Forms of education: lectures, seminars, independent work. Throughout the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work (oral answer, addition, blitz survey, participation in discussions at lectures and seminar classes, intermediate control test, assessment).
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 60% of the overall assessment .
Evaluation of the semester work: oral answer, additions, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, blitz survey, intermediate control test: 25/45 points. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, blitz surveys, intermediate control tests, presentation of a scientific report) and for independent work.
