Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, German and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication.
PLO 7. Understand the major issues of philology and approaches to solving those using relevant methods and innovative approaches.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, German and English.
PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To have a knowledge of basic linguistic concepts, linguocultural information about German-speaking countries, and theoretical knowledge about the systems and structures of Ukrainian and German languages acquired during the study of linguistic disciplines in the 1st and 2nd years.
2. To be able to use the Ukrainian language in oral and written communication, possess German language skills at the B1 level, and be capable of utilizing various informational resources to accomplish educational tasks.
3. To possess elementary skills in the analysis, comparison, and interpretation of linguistic material.
Course content
The translation practice from the first language is an integral part of the educational program "German Philology and Translation, English language" designed to train specialists in the field of Philology (Germanic languages and literatures, including translation) for the Bachelor's degree. This course aims to develop students' professional translation competence, acquire knowledge, skills, and translation abilities, overcome lexical, grammatical, and stylistic difficulties in translation, apply various translation methods, and master skills in pre-translation analysis of diverse oral and written texts of different functional styles. In the 5th, 6th, and 7th semesters, 2 credits are allocated for this course, consisting of 30 hours of classroom work and 30 hours of students' independent work.
