Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 19. To have the skills to participate in scientific and applied research in the field of philology.
PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Persian and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines: “Introduction to Oriental Philology”, “Lingual Country Studies of the Oriental Languages”, “Medieval Eastern Literature”, “Basics of Translation Practice”, “Basics of Translation Theory”; knowledge of vocabulary and grammar from the practical course of the Persian language (advanced level).
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the history of European translations of Persian classical poetry and the specifics of the reception of its images, motifs, genres and poetic forms (ghazals, rubai, mesnevi, dubeyti, etc.) by European literatures (in English, German, French, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, etc.). Also a critical analysis of the translated samples of Persian classical poetry is carried out. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a practical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Students’ self-study involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral responses, written assignments, presentations – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final control paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
