Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Persian languages, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 12. To analyze Persian linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 14. To use Persian and English in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it. PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them for solving complex problems in specialized fields of professional activity and/or education.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “Lingual country studies of the oriental language”, “Oriental language: basic level”, “Oriental language: intermediate level”, “Lexicology of the first Oriental language”, “Theoretical grammar of the first Oriental language”; knowledge of linguistic terminology and laws of language development (from the course "Basics of Linguistics").
Course content
The goal of the educational discipline is to form students' professional understanding of the subject, specifics and main tasks of phraseology as a branch of linguistics, to highlight the national and cultural specifics of Persian phraseology. The course includes two content parts. In the first part, the scope and limits of Persian phraseology, modeling, sources of origin of Persian phraseological units are considered. The second part is devoted to issues of structural-semantic classification of Persian phraseological units, formulas of everyday communication, paremiological fund of the Persian language. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a mainly practical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides preferably practical classes, designed for active work of students in the classroom. Students' self-study involves performing search tasks, making presentations, and memorizing Persian phraseological units. Control from the teacher’s side is carried out by means of their oral questioning and organization of written tasks, tests, phraseological dictations, modular test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written assignments, tests, phraseological dictations, translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
