Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
For the 6th term, the multidiscipline "Second language" requires a “Pass” for the 5th term.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is the further development of students' communicative competence in German, expansion of knowledge about German-speaking countries. The content of the curriculum is aimed at the building and development of knowledge on lexical and factual material of the main conversational topics of the course; deepening students' knowledge of German grammar; acquisition and development of skills of avoiding grammatical mistakes that lead to misunderstandings, formulation of grammar rules in German, their presentation in diagrams and tables, giving relevant examples; understanding the gist and specific details of the audio or print text (distinguishing homonyms, understanding phraseological units, guessing the meaning of unknown words from the context), retelling the content of the text and formulation of the main idea of the text, discussing the issues brought up in it; summarise texts of different functional styles; maintain a conversation on the offered topic with a sufficient degree of fluency.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities during the term: • oral and written tasks, which are performed at practical classes and in the process of individual work; • written tests; • module tests; • creative tasks; • answers at practical classes.
Assessment methods and criteria
Term assessment: the maximum number of points during the term is 60 points: • answers at the practical class: LO 2.1, LO 2.3, LO 3.1, LO 4.1; LO 4.2, LO 2.3, LO 2.5, LO 3.1, LO 4.1, LO 4.2 – 10 points; • written tests: LO 1.1, LO 1.2, LO 2.1, LO 2.2 – 10 points; • module tests: LO 1.1, LO 1.2, LO 2.1, LO 2.2, LO 2.3, LO 2.5, LO 3.1 – 20 points; • creative tasks: LO 2.1, LO 2.2, LO 2.4– 20 points; Final assessment in the form of an exam: • the written part of the exam – 15 points, • the oral part of the exam – 25 points The term final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the term and the points received at the exam – a minimum of 60 points, a maximum of 100 points, of which for the semester, the maximum is 60 points, the minimum is 36; for the exam - a maximum of 40 points; minimum - 24.
