Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to the course, students should know the main provisions of the " General Linguistics" and the place of the Spanish language among the Romance languages, its multinational character in the globalized world, possess the basic factual knowledge of linguistic nature, the principles of the comparison and collation method, the basics of modern bibliographic culture, rules for production of complex oral and written messages, be able to work with didactic and audio-visual materials, independently process language material; plan and evaluate their own work. The level of Spanish language proficiency starts from zero and gradually reaches the B1 level.
Course content
The aim of the discipline "The Third Language. Spanish" is the formation of coordinative bilingualism in students through the understanding of the relationship between grammatical structures, phonetic-phonological, lexical-phraseological and stylistic potentials of the native and Spanish languages, as well as the formation of skills regarding grammatical features, stylistic marking of language units in the language system, understanding and explanation of linguistic and extralingual phenomena of the Spanish language. The course introduces students to the structure and system of the modern Spanish language, the laws of its functioning as a means of communication, based on basic knowledge of the first and second languages, their history, as well as their lexical and grammatical systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Work with identical audio and video materials involves the application of postulates of constructive and communicative methods of teaching foreign languages through the wide use of modern multimedia tools. The following educational forms of assessment of the acquired knowledge are carried out: oral answer, blitz polling, tests, module tests, writing annotations of the audio or video Spanish-language material.
Assessment methods and criteria
Over the term, practical training is assessed according to the types of work and forms of control described in 7.1. Assessment is based on the results of the student's work throughout the term and does not include additionaltesting. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60 - get- "pass". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - get- "fail". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points for the term are expected to prepare material on the missed topics in the form of writing individual work ortests to be granted a “pass”.
