Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The discipline is meant for students who have successfully mastered the "General Linguistics" course and are aware of the place of the Italian language among the Romance languages, its multinational character in the globalized world, and possess basic factual knowledge of linguistic nature.
Course content
The discipline is taught in the 5th term in the amount of 10 credits: 130 hours of practical classes and 170 hours of individual work. The course includes 2 content modules and 2 final module tests, which end with a “pass-fail”.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Answer at the practical class; multimedia presentation/ report; continuous assessment test; module test; final test. Throughout the term, practical classes on relevant topics are held. The assessment is carried out at the practical classes according to the types of work and the form of control described above.
Assessment methods and criteria
The term final grade is formed by the points student receive the in the process of performing the stated types and forms of tuition, and the points gained for the final test, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 80 points - term control and 20 points - final assessment in the form of a multiple-choice test). If the student scored less than 12 points for the final test (which is 60% of the 20 points assigned to this type of control), they are not added to the term grade, regardless of the number of points received during the term.
