Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
For the 3rd term, the multidiscipline "Second language" requires initial knowledge of the German language at the basic level.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to build and extend students' knowledge of the German grammar and vocabulary, to improve students' skills and fluency in the German language for oral and written communication and students' future professional activities; to broaden their knowledge of the German language and culture. The content of the syllabus is directed at the formation and development of the ability to competently organize communication in German, both orally and in writing, taking into account the communicative situation; improvement of pronunciation mechanisms, consolidation of basic intonation and pronunciation skills; the development of listening skills, understanding the gist of the audio text, translation and rendering the content of the audio text; the ability to read, understand the gist and convey the content of what has been read, understand the meaning of unknown words in context; development of the ability to speak on everyday topics, provide simple recommendations and exchange information, present a prepared report.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities during the term: • oral and written tasks, which are performed at practical classes and in the process of individual work; • written tests; • module tests; • creative tasks; • answers at practical classes.
Assessment methods and criteria
Term assessment: the maximum number of points during the term is 60 points: • answers at the practical class: LO 2.1, LO 2.3, LO 3.1, LO 4.1; LO 4.2, LO 2.3, LO 3.1, LO 4.1, LO 4.2 – 10 points; • written tests: LO 1.1, LO 1.2, LO 2.1, LO 2.2– 10 points; • module tests: LO 1.1 – 3.1 – 20 points; • creative tasks: LO 2.1, LO 2.2, LO 2.4– 20 points; Final assessment in the form of an exam: • the written part of the exam – 15 points, • the oral part of the exam – 25 points The term final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the term and the points received at the exam – a minimum of 60 points, a maximum of 100 points, of which for the semester, the maximum is 60 points, the minimum is 36; for the exam - a maximum of 40 points; minimum - 24.
