Learning outcomes
PLO14. To use the New Greek and English languages in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres. PLO17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or study. PLO 20.2. To carry out intercultural communication in oral and written form. PLO 22.2. Translate specialized texts from and into New Greek and English.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to taking this course, students should have taken the course "Introduction to Translation Studies" and "Practice of Translation from the First Language", the previous components of the integrated discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation from the First Language" and know the main components of translation competence. Be able to carry out applied translation analysis of the original text, interpret grammatical, linguistic, stylistic and textual phenomena of the original language, perform self-analysis when editing a translated text; use interactive and multimedia tools. To have skills in New Greek at B2 level, basic tactics of translating texts of different styles into New Greek; criticizing own translations; producing complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in search situations.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to prepare neo-Ellenists for theoretical comprehension and practical implementation of acts of intercultural communication on the basis of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, primarily in translation, abstracting, editing translated texts and solving applied translation problems. The discipline consists of two content parts. The first part, "The Place of Translation in the Literary Polysystem," forms an understanding of the principles of developing translation norms, the parameters of translation activity set by the culture of the target language, and the relationship between translation and cultural space. The second part, "Organization of Intra-textual Relations and Translatability," shows the principles of how narrow and broad contexts influence translation, the mechanism of decision-making on the choice of a particular translation strategy, and the ways of constructing the meaning of a text and their coordination with translation strategies.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire course. The total grade for the semester consists of the points received for class work (which synthesizes and independent work on theoretical material to prepare for class work: oral answers, additions) and for independent work (essay, creative work). The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of completing the declared types and forms of study and the points obtained at the exam. The maximum distribution is based on the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam.
