Learning outcomes
PLO1 Communicate fluently on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign languages in oral and written form, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Greek language and literature and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO11. Know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the state and Modern Greek/ English languages. PLO14. To use the Modern Greek and English languages in oral and written forms, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of the first parts of the complex discipline Theoretical and Practical First Language Course 2) knowledge of general information about the phonetic and grammatical system of the New Greek language, knowledge of the lexical minimum within the A1 level; 3) knowledge of the New Greek language at the A1-A1+ competence level.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to develop students skills in philological research work, practical application of elements of structural research methods (method of oppositions, method of distributional analysis, method of component analysis, contextual method) to solve certain applied problems, which should help them master disciplines that require significant theoretical training. The course consists of two content parts. The first, research part, involves students choosing a topic, discussing the subject of research, formulating a problem, searching for scientific literature, looking for material related to certain hypotheses in order to refute or confirm them; students learn the principles of writing a scientific text, the peculiarities of the scientific style of the Ukrainian language, and the independence of presenting postulates based on the principles of academic integrity. The second and final part of the course aims to familiarize students with the organization and conduct of public defenses, where research results are presented.

Defense of a research paper.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the process of writing the work is evaluated in accordance with the evaluation criteria described in paragraph 7.1. The discipline ends with a test. The total number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the defense of the course work. The credit is given based on the results of the students work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Students who score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive passed. Students who do not score the minimum positive score of 60 points receive a fail grade and must go through the procedure of re-defending their work.
