Distance form

The student must possess elementary skills of morphological and syntactic analysis, translation; to be able to use the metalanguage of linguistic description.

The subject of study of the educational discipline "Latin" is the phonetics, grammar and vocabulary of the Latin language, because a significant part of the vocabulary of the modern English language consists of words of Latin origin, borrowed at various historical stages. An important place is occupied by the study of Latin affixes as part of the word-formation system of the English language, as well as the consideration of Latin phraseology and aphorisms, which function in various types of English discourse.

Educational activities during the semester: · tasks that are performed in the process of independent work, ; · formative assessment - control works; · answer in practical classes

Semester assessment: • the maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points, • tasks that are performed in the process of independent work, creative tasks: LO 1.1–1.5, 2.1–2.5, 3, 4 – 20 points • formative assessment – written tests on four aspects of language competence: LO 1.1-1.3, 2.1, 2.3, 4 – 30 points • answer in practical classes: LO 1.1–5, 2.1 - 2.5 – 10 points (estimated depending on the completeness of disclosure); final evaluation in the form of an exam: • the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, • LO 1.1–5, 2.1–5, 3.1 are evaluated; the exam consists of two written tasks: 1) grammar test, 2) vocabulary test; and the oral part: 1) linguistic analysis of the text; 2) a theoretical question on grammar; 3) Latin aphorism conditions for admission to the final exam: Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam.
