Prerequisites and co-requisites
Mastering the basic course of the modern Ukrainian language, assimilation of theoretical knowledge about the language as a sign system, the ability to perceive and independently use linguistic terms, apply methods and techniques of linguistic analysis.
Course content
Formation of Ukrainian-language competence in the field of academic communication, acquisition of skills and abilities of independent scientific work, creative solution of professional problems. The term paper is a mandatory form of final certification for the fourth semester of higher education in the Ukrainian Language and Translation (for Foreigners) study programme. The term paper requires 60 hours of independent work. A term paper is an educational and scientific work in which a student must demonstrate the ability to master and operate with scientific sources in the language being studied, as well as to conduct independent research. The quality and content of the course work determine the level of readiness of the student for the next stage of study.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Course work. Methods of observation, comparison, experiment, generalisation, abstraction, formalisation, analysis and synthesis, methods of analogy and modelling. Search, partial search methods. Methods of analysis and synthesis. Work with printed and electronic educational publications and Internet resources; independent work with reference literature.
