Course content
The subject of the discipline is to determine the place and role of the word-forming fragment of the Ukrainian language system, to form the necessary amount of theoretical knowledge about the construction of a Ukrainian derivative word. The discipline teaches foreign students to understand the process, system and result of creating derivative words of the Ukrainian language that are in structural and semantic relations; develops skills and abilities to analyze vocabulary depending on the components of each unit, as well as to independently build words and secondary lexical units. Students get acquainted with the main patterns of word formation in the Ukrainian language, both in common and proper names, and learn that a word is a semantic unit of the language that is formed on the basis of another word with the participation of semantic units (roots, suffixes, prefixes, inflections) and exists either as a permanent unity of sounds or as a system of word forms.
