Learning outcomes
PTR 2. To effectively work with information, i.e. to select the necessary information from various sources, in particular from specialized literature and electronic databases, to critically analyze and interpret them, organize, classify and systematize PTR 3. To organize the process of learning and self-education. PTR 5. To collaborate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PTR 7. To understand the main problems of philology and ways to solve them using appropriate methods and innovative approaches.

Basic knowledge of the Ukrainian language.
Course content
The course introduces first-year students to the traditions of university education in Ukraine and the world. The essence of historical processes that have influenced Kyiv University throughout its existence is characterized. The history of the formation and main stages of development of philology, as well as the history of philological research at Kyiv University are outlined. Students will learn about the life and scientific heritage of prominent national philologists, the role and place of a philologist in modern society, and the organization of the educational process at the university. The concept of a philologist's occupational program and the scientific principles of choosing a profession and specialty are revealed. The main milestones of the formation of the system of education of foreigners in higher education institutions of Ukraine in general and in KNUTS in particular are highlighted.

Forms of study: lectures, consultations, independent work. Teaching methods: explanation of new material, independent work with scientific literature, collective project, interaction with the teacher and classmates.
