Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of the Ancient Greek, Latin and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 21. Possess the skills to translate texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of the academic disciplines "Latin language", "History of the Latin language", "Latin hermeneutics"; 2) knowledge the origins of the Latin language, the periodization of the development of the Latin language, the emergence of the Latin script and alphabet, the division of the Latin language into dialects, literary terminology, Latin grammar; 3) mastering the skills of morpheme, morphological and syntactic analysis of Latin language units and lexical-etymological and historical-cultural analysis and commenting on Latin texts.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students' ideas about the development of medieval Latin, the evolution of views on medieval Latin-language works, about new approaches to the study of the neo-Latin heritage and the main modern problems of medieval Latin and its place in the paradigm of general linguistic achievements. Abstract of the academic discipline. Within the scope of the discipline, the history of the development of medieval Latin and the mechanisms of its popularization are considered, the theoretical problems reflected on in modern medieval studies are outlined, new approaches to the study of medieval texts are characterized, the current state, tasks and future prospects of domestic medieval studies are considered, the directions and main achievements of modern domestic medieval studies are analyzed, within the scope of the course it is expected to read texts in the original and analyze them using linguistic, literary and cultural analyses.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of the points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, test papers, defense of a presentation, defense of a creative project) and for independent work (preparation of a presentation, creative project ). All types of work for the semester have as a result: - in the maximum measure of 60 points, - a minimum of 36 points. In case of absence from the practical session, the student must complete the task for the practical session in written form. - final assessment: exam A detailed description of the forms, criteria and organization of assessment is given in the working course program, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
