PLO 8. To know and to understand the system of ancient Greek, Latin and foreign languages, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature, to be able to apply the knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. To analyze units of language, to determine their interaction, to characterize language phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of ancient Greek and Latin languages texts of various styles and genres. PLO 20. To know the Greek-Latin substrate of modern scientific terminology, to master the metalanguage of scientific description and to use it in situations of professional communication. PLO 21. To have the skills of translating ancient Greek and Latin texts of various styles and genres.

Successfully master the course "Ancient Greek language. 1 semester": to know paradigms of independent parts of speech, peculiarities of word formation; to posess skills to identify the grammatical meanings of forms, ability to translate Ancient Greek texts in accordance with the tasks (educational goals) determined by the work program of the educational discipline "Ancient Greek language. 1 semester".

The purpose of the course "Ancient Greek" is to train highly qualified specialists in Classical languages, to expand their linguistic perspective in the field of Indo-European studies. The course involves a comprehensive study of the basic aspects of the morphology and word formation of the Ancient Greek language in parallel with the development of students' skills speaking, writing and translation as well as hermeneutic abilities. Abstract. The subject of study of the academic discipline in the first semester is the basics of grammar and word formation of the Attic dialect of the Ancient Greek language in the classical period.

Lectures, practical classes; video materials and presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint); independent work (preparation of materials on a given topic, exercises and translation of texts).

The semester points are formed by the points obtained in the process of assimilation of the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for semester consists of points received for classroom and independent work. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam: maximum score in the exam is 40 points, minimum score, which is are added to the semester ones, is 24 points; the following learning outcomes are evaluated on exam: 1.1-1.2; 2.1-2.2; 3.1; exam is held in the written form, which consists of two theoretical questions and a practical one. The final number of points for the discipline is defined as sum of points for systematic work during semester, taking into account the exam. Admission to the exam requires the student to successfully complete assignments and work throughout the semester.
