PLO 1. To communicate fluently in official and foreign languages (English, French / Spanish) on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists both orally and in the written form; to use the languages effectively for cross-cultural communication. PLO 5. To cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, proponents of different political views, etc. PLO 6. Use information and communicative technologies to solve complicated specialized tasks and professional issues. PLO 7. To understand major problems of philology and approaches to their solution with the use of relevant methods, in particular, innovative interdisciplinary approaches of applied (computational) linguistics and information technologies; to explain their interrelation in the integrated system of interdisciplinary knowledge. PLO 17.

Full-time form

Before starting this course, students should know the basic concepts of political linguistics, be able to distinguish political texts by genre; have elementary skills in scientific research and information management.

The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the current state and achievements in the field of political linguistics, to explore various relationships between language, thinking, communication, and subjects of political activity, and to teach students to use linguistic means of different levels in political texts. The object of study is Ukrainian and English-language texts of a political nature.

Lectures, seminar classes, and independent work; Types of work: Answer at the seminar session/participation in the discussion of the topic; Analytical report on an individual research task; Analytical report on a group research assignment; Control test with closed and open-type questions)

Assessment of semester work: 1. Answer at the seminar session/participation in the discussion of the topic, analytical report on the individual research task (preparation of the presentation of the material and presentation of the material), analytical report on the group research task - 46/80 points. 2. Tests with closed and open-type questions – 14/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points (60) get "Passed". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points (60) get "Failed".
