Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, proponents of different political views, etc. PLO 6. Use information and communicative technologies to solve complicated specialized tasks and professional issues. PLO 14. To use Ukrainian, English, French / Spanish in oral and written forms, in different registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), for solving communicative tasks in educational, professional, scientific spheres, and everyday life. PLO 15. To conduct linguistic analysis (phonetic, morphemic, syntax, word formation, morphological, semantic), literary criticism, and translation studies analysis of texts of different genres and styles, as well as computer modeling of analysis and synthesis of linguistic objects and phenomena. PLO: 21.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of courses: English, Theory and Practice of Translation. 2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of general linguistics, foundations of translation studies, and English and Ukrainian grammar. 3. Mastery of techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of the system of English and Ukrainian languages.
Course content
The purpose of the academic discipline is to form professional translation competence, which consists of the ability to perform oral and written translation of texts of various genres at a high professional level, taking into account the socio-cultural component. Students will have the opportunity to practically improve the skills of written and oral translation of the text, as well as the ability to apply various translation strategies and to carry out translation analysis of the text taking into account the linguistic and cultural aspects in comparing it with the original text, which is one of the prerequisites for the performance of high-quality written translation. The educational discipline is one of the optional components (Part 1) of the complex multi-semester discipline "Field Machine Translation Systems (MST)".

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of work. The semester evaluation forms the intermediate control score. The points received in the discipline "Part 1 Lingua-Cultural aspect of translation" are transferred in the percentage equivalent (30% of the points received - from the maximum number of 100 points - 30 points) to the formation of the total score for the semester of the next "Part 2 Translation of Domain ‒ Oriented Texts (English Language)" of the multi-semester complex discipline "Мachine translation systems (English language)".
