Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To work with information effectively: to select necessary information from different sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases; to analyze and interpret it critically; to arrange it and make proper classification and systematization. PLO 6. Use information and communicative technologies to solve complicated specialized tasks and professional issues. PLO 8. To know the systemic characteristics of the Ukrainian and English languages, structural and systemic organization of the written and oral texts as a verbal communication mechanism; to know the general properties of literature as an art of word and be able to use this knowledge in professional activity. PLO: 13, 15.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of theoretical foundations: literary studies and ancient Greek mythology at the level of the secondary school curriculum. Ability: to carry out a basic literary analysis of an artistic text, to distinguish literary eras, directions, styles, and phenomena.
Course content
The program acquaints students with the peculiarities of the development of ancient literature, in particular the literary heritage of Ancient Greece and Rome, cultural-historical, social, and artistic-aesthetic factors that mediate this heritage in its theoretical and methodological connections with the history of Western European literature and partly with literary studies and translation studies, deepening the skills of literary and critical analysis already acquired during the previous years of study, expanded ability to interpret texts of ancient literature, as well as apply the cultural and aesthetic potential of the acquired body of knowledge, abilities, and skills in further professional philological and translation activities.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms and methods of teaching: conducting lectures and seminars. Activities: assessment of students' work in seminar classes, assessment of creative essays during the semester, assessment of the final test.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final grade for the course is formed as the sum of the points of the current control for the semester. Forms of ongoing control include answers to seminar classes (max 60 / min 40 балів), preparation of two creative essays (max 20 / min 1 point), and writing of the final control paper (max 20 / min 10 points). In total, the forms of the final control are max 100 / min 60 points.
