Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basics of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, chemical and instrumental methods of quantitative analysis and the course "physical research methods in chemistry". Successful completion of basic courses in general chemistry, physics and mathematics at the undergraduate level.
Course content
As part of the course "Mass spectrometry and X-ray fluorescence in analysis", the physicochemical basics of the mass spectrometry (MS) method and its combination with previous methods of separation: gas and liquid chromatography are studied. Tandem mass spectrometry, laser desorption-ionization mass spectrometry, isotope ratio mass spectrometry, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry approaches are also studied. The basics of X-ray fluorescence spectral analysis (XFRS), formation of an analytical signal, methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis are also studied. Peculiarities and practical nuances of the application of these methods are considered for solving a wide range of chemical and analytical problems: analysis of environmental objects, biomedical research and control of modern technological processes, etc.
