Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know:
- methods and technologies of social work;
- the basis of regulation and legal support in the field of social work;
- socio-psychological features of client groups in social work;
- models of social policy.
To be able:
- to analyze statistical information;
- to communicate with representatives of different social groups;
- to conduct group classes;
- to assess the situation adequately, to plan and to be flexible in case of obstacles in the way of achieving the goal.
Course content
The discipline is aimed to form ideas about the methods of social work in the community, as well as gaining skills in developing social projects at the local level. While studing the basic theoretical and methodological approaches to the organization of social work in the community students prepare one-man projects that analyze the social status and level of development of the community to which they belong.
Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of system of local self-government in Ukraine and the process of decentralization. The distribution of local power affects on the process of organizing and providing social services, creating a system of integrated social services that provide social work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, individual work, educational game
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment during the semester: writing critical essays and written works - up to 7 points, participation in group discussion - up to 5 points, preparation of research work on the analysis of social status of the community - up to 20 points, project development of social services in the community - up to 20 points. In total for the semester the student can get a maximum of 60 points, but not less than 36 points for admission to the exam.
The form of final control is an exam. The maximum score is 40 points, the minimum is 24 points.
Based on the results of the work during the semester, the student receives a final grade on a 100-point system, which is calculated as the sum of grades for the semester and grades for the exam:
0-59 - unsatisfactory
60-74 - satisfactory
75-89 - good
90-100 - excellent
