Prerequisites and co-requisites
A mandatory requirement for studying the course is to have knowledge of personality psychology, age psychology, and the psychology of deviant behavior. It is also desirable that students have basic knowledge of pathopsychology, Narcology, and medical psychology.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is that students should master knowledge about the patterns of development of family relations, forms and methods of social and psychological assistance to families, in accordance with the type of problems. Relationships in the family directly determine the modality of personal development. Understanding the psychology of family relationships, the ability to identify factors that are determinants of dysfunctions and help prevent the risks of family destruction in a timely manner are important competencies of a family relations specialist. The discipline is designed to expand the subject field of professional activity of a social teacher through the formation of psychological skills and competencies that are necessary in working with the family. Special emphasis is placed on mastering methods of studying family relations, mastering techniques for establishing trusting relationships, and family counseling skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Survey practical task The course has 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures, seminars, training is provided when conducting practical classes, the discipline ends with a test. During the semester, after completing the relevant topics, thematic written control works with open questions are conducted. For students who have not reached the minimum milestone level of assessment (60% of the maximum possible number of points) during the semester, the final semester control work is conducted, the maximum score for which can not exceed 40% of the final assessment (up to 40 points on a 100 – point scale). The condition for obtaining a positive final assessment in the discipline is to achieve at least 60% of the maximum possible number of points.
