Learning outcomes
01. Freely present and discuss with specialists and non-specialists the results of research, scientific and applied problems of physics and astronomy in state and foreign languages, qualified to reflect the results of research in scientific publications in leading international scientific journals.
02. Formulate and test hypotheses; use appropriate evidence to substantiate the conclusions, in particular, the results of theoretical analysis, experimental research and mathematical and / or computer modeling, available literature data.
03. Develop and research conceptual, mathematical and computer models of processes and systems, effectively use them to gain new knowledge and / or create innovative products in physics (astronomy) and related interdisciplinary areas.
04. Plan and perform experimental and / or theoretical research in physics (astronomy) and related interdisciplinary fields using modern tools

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basic laws of mechanics, trigonometry, algebra and physics within the general courses of the university. Have basic knowledge of astronomy and physics. Be able to apply previous knowledge within the initial courses of mathematics and physics. Have basic skills in calculating derivatives, integrals, operations and operations with vectors, graphically plot functions, define and decompose functions into series. Have an idea of the Fourier series.
Course content
The discipline "Advances in Physics and Astronomy" is part of the cycle of professional training of specialists of educational qualification level "Doctor of Philosophy" in the specialty "Physics and Astronomy". The course program is focused on established specialists who are already familiar with higher mathematics and physics in the amount of university courses. The results of the study are to gain knowledge of modern achievements in astronomy and physics of space and serve for the general development and formation of English lexical and vocabulary, which is necessary to understand the state of affairs in astronomy.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The total amount of 150 hours, including:
lectures - 10 hours;
practical classes - 18 hours;
consultations - 2 hours;
independent work - 120 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment methods: surveys in the classroom, control surveys in the process, credit. The final grade is set on the basis of intermediate grades (40%) and credit (60%).
