Learning outcomes
Student must know the basic concepts needed to describe relativistic systems and basic mathematical methods of the General Relativity (GR); basic ideas of GR and its generalizations, methods of description and calculation of observables in curved space-time. Also, the student must be familiar with the basic methods of describing cosmological effects, have an idea of the basic cosmological parameters and prospects for cosmological research.
The student must logically and consistently formulate the basic physical principles and laws that determine the characteristics of cosmological phenomena, as well as relativistic extragalactic objects; identify areas of application of basic cosmological models; solve typical problems related to the material being studied.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The presentation of the material is based on courses in general astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics, theoretical physics, mathematical analysis, analytical geometry, differential equations and mathematical physics.
Course content
The subject of the special course “Early Universe” is the properties of the Universe on a cosmological scales, as well as cosmological and other objects that require the application of relativistic theory. The aim of the course is to gain knowledge about the model of cosmological expansion with cold dark matter and cosmological constant, the problems that arise here, as well as systematization and deepening of knowledge of general relativity and some modifications, in particular, in terms of modern research methods.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods: lectures and seminars. Assessment methods: module control works and tests; activity during lectures; home tasks. The final grade includes the semester assessment (60%) and the final assessment (40%).
Assessment methods and criteria
Сontrol system and exam conditions. The discipline "Early Universe" is evaluated by a modular rating system. The results of students' educational activity are evaluated on a 100 - point scale. Forms of current control: evaluation of the results of the defense of homework and tests. When setting points for modular control are taken into account: the quality of work; knowledge and understanding of the material of the relevant topic; the degree of student activity and the quality of mastering the material in the performance and defense of works, in solving problems; under current control. During the semester there are two written modular tests of lecture material. A maximum of 20 points is awarded for the first and second modular tests. Up to 20 points can be additionally awarded for active work during the semester. The maximum number of points that can be awarded to a student during the semester - 60 points.
