Learning outcomes
1. Know, understand and be able to apply the basic principles of general and theoretical physics, in particular, classical, relativistic, and quantum mechanics, molecular physics and thermodynamics, electromagnetism, wave and quantum optics, atomic and nuclear physics to establish, analyze, interpret, explain and classify mechanisms of various physical phenomena and processes for solving complex specialized problems and practical problems in physics and astronomy. 2. Have basic skills of theoretical and / or experimental research in certain special fields of physics or astronomy, performed individually (autonomously) and / or as part of a research group.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
• Know the basic principles of statistical physics, electrodynamics and plasma kinetic theory; • Be able to solve linear ordinary and partial differential equations, calculate the moments of the distribution function, solve systems of algebraic equations. Be able to study the dispersion and damping of waves in plasma. • Possess the basic methods of mathematical analysis and mathematical physics in the courses taught to students of the Faculty of Physics.
Course content
The discipline “Statistical theory of systems with Coulomb interaction” is part of the specialized selective block “Quantum Field Theory” and includes acquaintance with theoretical approaches to the study of instabilities in plasma, electromagnetic fluctuations in plasma, large-scale electromagnetic fluctuations, scattering of electromagnetic waves, as well as the fluctuation-dissipation theorem and its applications. In addition, with examples and parameters of dusty plasma and the processes of dust particles charging in plasma.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent study of students
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester grade: Fulfillment of tasks for independent work (60 points).. Final grade in the form of an exam: The exam is held in written and oral form. Each ticket contains two theoretical questions that need to be answered in writing and then explained orally. A student can get up to 40 points on the exam. The condition for admission to the exam is to score at least 30 points for the semester assessments.
