Learning outcomes
Know and master the theoretical knowledge of the basic concepts and categories of municipal law, foundations of local government, sources of legal regulation of relations in local government, the formation of major municipal authorities, types of municipal systems in foreign countries, basic principles of municipal authorities, analyze and study the development of municipal bodies, collect, summarize and analyze information and provide international legal assessment of national legislation of Ukraine and other states on local governments, apply the knowledge gained to solve practical problems related to improved legal mechanisms for the activities of municipal bodies; assess the state of compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law, analyze the shortcomings and gaps in Ukrainian legislation in the legislation on municipal bodies

Course content
Thematic plan of the discipline: Topic 1. Theoretical and methodological principles of local government Topic 2. Development of the institution of local self-government: from the primitive community to the territorial community Topic 3. Organizational, legal and material and financial bases of local self-government Topic 4. The system of municipal law (norms, institutions) and its sources Topic 5. International legal regulation of local self-government Topic 6. Continental (French) model of organization of public authority on the ground Topic 7. Anglo-Saxon (English) model of public authority in the field

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: oral answers (up to 40 points), independent work (up to 30 points), final modular test work (up to 30 points). The form of final control is a test. The test is set based on the results of the student's work during the semester. Upon receipt of the final number of points from 60 and above the student is set "credited". Students who scored less than 24 points are not allowed to take the test.
