Know: theoretical foundations of the functioning of the information society as a phenomenon of civilization
Be able to: work with methodological sources, have the skills to prepare scientific essays, have the skills of public speaking on certain scientific topics
Have basic skills: basic knowledge of computer science, basic skills of working with information sources of various types, sufficient to perform practical tasks of foreign languages
Course content
Module 1. Theory of communication as a scientific discipline. Communication as an object of study. Communication models. Topic 1. Lecture 1 - 2. The subject of communication theory. Communication as an object of study. Sources and main stages of formation of communication theory as a separate science. Topic 2. Lecture 3 - 4. Communicative process and its structure. Postcommunicative processes. Modeling the communication process. Topic 3. Lecture 5. Verbal and nonverbal communication Nonverbal communication. Physical space and communicative space: informational and virtual. Topic 4. Lecture 6. Communicative discourses. Topic 5. Lecture 7. Semiotics. Symbolization of public space.
Module 2. Applied aspects of communication theory. Communication and diplomacy. Topic 6. Lecture 8. International communications. Communication and diplomacy. Topic 7. Lecture 9 - 10. Mass communications in the system of international relations. Topic 8. Lecture 10 - 11. Political communications. Modern communication technologies as a tool of social management. Effective communications based on the typology of personality: L. Gorshenin's method (new topic, added at the suggestion of stakeholders). Topic 9. Lecture 12. Crisis communications. Negotiation theory. Strategy and tactics of argumentation. Topic 10. Lecture 13. Intercultural communication.

Assessment methods and criteria
Forms of assessment: the level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of student work in seminars, the quality of preparation of written independent, tests, case studies, presentations, and individual presentations.
Semester assessment is carried out in the form of testing knowledge and skills: activity and quality of speeches, reports at seminars, participation in discussions, quality of prepared presentations, activity during discussion of reports and subject discussions - up to 50 points (average up to 5 points per seminar, at least 10 seminars, 5x10 = 50 points), threshold level of positive evaluation - 30 points. Intermediate modular work - up to 10 points. Final modular test - up to 10 points (threshold level of positive assessment - 5 points). Modular works are accepted in certain terms.
