Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know: definition of the basic directions of formation of the theory of social work and limits of application of separate theoretical concepts in practice of the social worker; the specifics of social processes in society, ways to ensure successful and efficient activities of social workers in various fields of social practice; the specifics of social work with the case and the group. Be able to: navigate in the areas of formation of the theory of social work and determine their impact on the practical activities of social workers; apply certain theoretical models of social work in their scientific, cognitive and practical activities; to systematize views, ideas, facts for the formation of theoretical and practical achievements; use theoretical and methodological material for the preparation of research papers; plan social work in accordance with strategic programs and projects approved by state institutions.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is a systematic and consistent presentation of modern theory of social work as a basis for shaping the scientific worldview of a social worker. The course presents the basic theoretical and methodological principles of researching the specifics of social work as a field of scientific knowledge, substantiates the possibility of using the achievements of psychological, sociological, socio-psychological, political science, cultural theory and some other basic and applied sciences in modern social work; the evolution of views and approaches to the basics of social work is traced, the possibilities of organizing the activities of a social worker in the conditions of civil society development, modern place, role and importance of scientific support of social work in forming the principles of civic position of a social sphere specialist as a citizen in society and his/her development in the modern world.

Lecture; seminar; educative, creative, reproductive task (presentation, essay, report).
Assessment methods and criteria
Verbal answers, practical tasks, presentations, essays, reports The maximum number of points per semester is 60 points. Writing exam, the minimum number of points for sitting the examination is 36 points. The number of points scored throughout semester is announcing in advance.
