Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know: theoretical and methodological principles of the history of social work; peculiarities of socionomic processes, ways to ensure successful and effective guardianship, assistance, diagnosis and rehabilitation in different periods of social work; normative and legislative documents on social work. To be able: to plan social work, to understand the goal and specify it in the tasks; to clearly define the content, basic forms and methods of social charity, guardianship and assistance in different historical periods; to identify current forms and methods of social assistance in the historical experience of the past; to systematize views, ideas, facts for the formation of theoretical and practical achievements; to use historical and socionomic material for writing essays, term papers and thesis.
Course content
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the process of emergence and development of social work, theoretical and practical aspects of social assistance. During the teaching of the discipline the peculiarities of institutionalization of forms and technologies of social work under the influence of historical changes are considered. Great attention is paid to the study of the evolution of views and approaches to social assistance, as well as the phenomenon of charity and philanthropy. In the process of teaching the course analyzes the formation of social work in different countries of the world. It is presented that lifestyle change appears as a determinant of social work development.

Lecture, seminar, practical tasks, discussion of debatable issues
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral answers, practical tasks, projects, test. The maximum number of points per semester is 60 points. The form of the test is oral, in accordance with the previously submitted creative tasks and projects. The minimum number of points of admission to the test is 36 points. The number of points scored per semester is announced in advance.
