Learning outcomes
Formation of students’ thorough knowledge of the state and law, their mastery of legal terminology, formation of a high level of professional legal awareness and legal culture. As a result of mastering the materials of the fundamental discipline, they must know the basics of the methodology of research of state and legal phenomena; basic patterns of the process of emergence of the state and law; basic approaches to the typology of states and their properties; purpose, types of functions and forms of the state; modern approaches to the understanding of law; purpose and functions of law; types of forms (sources) of law; the concept, structure and types of rules of law; correlation between the system of law and the system of legislation; the concept, features and types of legal relations and other general theoretical concepts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Acquisition by students of such knowledge and skills presupposes primarily their active and creative independent work with educational, normative-legal, scientific sources, in the course of performance of individual tasks, preparation for seminars, lectures, practical classes, writing of modular tests, scientific articles and reports.

Thematic plan of the discipline: • Modern approaches to the understanding of law. The concept, essence, source and form of law • International legal characteristics of legal regulation as a specific form of social regulation • International legal characteristics of the essence and purpose of legal norms • International legal analysis of the system of law and the system of legislation • International legal essence of the law-making and legislative process, the concept and features of legal and regulatory acts • International legal nature, concept, essence, features and composition of legal relations. Legal facts • International legal characteristics of implementation of law and law enforcement • International legal nature and the relationship between legal and lawful conduct. Offenses in national and international law • International legal nature, essence and concept of legal liability • International legal essence of legal activity, legal process and procedure • International legal characteristics of the essence of legal awareness and legal culture of modern society • International legal characteristics of the concept and essence of legality, legal order, public, national and international order • International legal comparative characteristics of modern types of legal systems of the world and features of legal activity

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: answers (up to 30 points), additions (up to 5 points), written assignment (up to 5 points), final modular test (up to 10 points). The form of final control is an exam. The exam is conducted in writing. The student's answer to the exam – up to 40 points.
