Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian and English in oral and written forms, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian and English. PLO 14. Use English in oral and written form, in different genre and style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), for solving communicative tasks in everyday, public, educational, professional and academic spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the basic principles of successful communication, possess basic factual knowledge of a humanitarian nature. Be able to use vocabulary flexibly, possess the general norms of Ukrainian oral literary speech, have a sufficient level of linguistic competence and language culture. Be able to plan and evaluate one's own work; use interactive and multimedia tools. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; use of foreign language professional informative sources; analysis of rhetorical texts; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in exploratory situations.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is the formation of students' basic rhetorical knowledge and skills. The educational discipline is an integral part of the "Applied Linguistics" course. The task of the course consists in students acquiring new theoretical knowledge and practical skills of speaking, in particular in the format of oral public speaking. The discipline is considered in connection with related linguistic and non-linguistic sciences: lexicology and phraseology, phonetics, syntax, stylistics, general linguistics, literary studies, psycholinguistics, eristics, etc. The issues of rhetoric as a science and the art of speech are highlighted, the peculiarities of the relationship between language and thinking, logic and thinking are considered. Special attention is paid to mastering various methods of working with the audience, to the technique and expressiveness of speech, the strategy and tactics of successful oral public speaking. Techniques of diction, breathing, expressiveness of intonation are practiced.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Verbal, visual and practical teaching methods: lecture, practical class, independent work Activities: Response to the practical, addition, participation in the discussion, analysis of the rhetorical text, creative task (own speech), final control task.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is credit. According to the types of works, a student can score the following number of points: oral answer - from 3 to 6 addition - from 1 to 2 participation in the discussion - from 2 to 3 creative task (own speech) - from 13:00 to 22:00 tasks of the final control (test) - from 12 to 20 The credit score is formed as the sum of all points scored during the semester: 0-59 – not counted, 60-100 credits.
