Students should know: the main classes of organic compounds, the rules of their nomenclature, the properties of organic substances of different classes, the mechanisms of chemical reactions. Students must be able to: write organic reactions and solve organic problems for each studied topic, prepare laboratory works in a high-quality manner.

            Course content

The course covers the theoretical foundations of organic chemistry, the nature of chemical bonds, the structure and reactivity of hydrocarbon molecules, and the chemical properties of representatives of the main classes of organic compounds. The mechanisms of the most important reactions and the influence of various factors on their course depending on the nature of the reagent and the substrate are studied. Information on the use of modern spectral methods for the analysis of organic compounds, the basis of their nomenclature rules, are presented. The most common industrial and laboratory methods of obtaining the main classes of organic compounds, their physical and chemical properties and the relationship between the steric and electronic structure of molecules and their reactivity are highlighted. Areas of application of individual organic compounds are indicated and some issues of their influence on the ecology of the environment are considered.
