Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of Swedish literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process (according to the chosen specialization). PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course "Swedish literature" requires prior mastery of the material of the course "Foreign Literature", in particular general understanding of trends in the development of European literature and possession literary terminology, as well as command of the Swedish language at the level
not lower than A2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course content
The course "Swedish
literature" in the 4th semester includes lectures and seminar classes. At lectures
students get acquainted with the main trends, figures,
works of Swedish literature. In the fourth semester the Swedish literature is considered
from its origins to the beginning of the 20th century,
in particular, the first literary monuments, carved with runes on Rök and
Gripsholm stones, religious and secular literature of the Middle Ages,
literature of the 16th and 17th centuries (Olof Rudbeck, Håkan Spegel, Sofia Elizabeth
Brenner), XVIII century (Karl von Linnaeus, Olof von Dahlin, Karl Michael
Bellman), Swedish literature of the Romantic era (Esaias Tegner, Gustav Geyer,
Fredrik Cederberg, Carl Jonas Almqvist). More detailed attention is paid to
works of August Strindberg and Selma Lagerlöf. At seminar classes
the discussion and analysis of works of art or their fragments is carried out,
read by students, including the works of August Strindberg, Selma Lagerlöf,
Pär Lagerkvist.

Explanatory and illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem lecture), heuristic method, analytical tasks, written works, educational discussions, independent work of students.

Current assessment: interview, written work, report, final test. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
