Discipline is devoted to the theoretical and methodological principles of analysis of information and network transformation of the world system: the role of information, social and geospatial consequences of informatization, the essence of the concepts of information society, digital economy and society, network society; sustainable digital development; the transition from "analog" data collection and analysis to the era of "big data", from the amount of information accumulated by mankind to the quality of solving specific problems. The course is taught in English.

For students who failed to reach the minimum level of the grade throughout the term (60% of the maximum possible points) the semester test is conducted, the maximum score for which may not exceed 40% of the final grade (up to 40 points on a 100-point scale). For obtaining a positive final grade in the discipline it is necessary to achieve at least 60% of the maximum possible number of points, and the grade for learning results provided for in paragraphs 2 and 3 may not be less than 50% of the maximum level (not less than 10 and 5 points respectively). Final assessment in the form of an exam: Analytical essay and peer review. Maximum number of points on the exam - 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester - 24 points (60% of the maximum number points allocated for the exam). Students who scored a total of less than the critical-calculated minimum points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam 36 points
