Learning outcomes
To know the essence of publishing activity and editing, professional profiles, and competences of a publisher and editor; job market requirements publishing and media editing professionals must meet; the fundamentals of self-organisation in professional activity. Be able to search for specialised information; substantiate decisions, based on the theories and concepts of publishing activities and media editing.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
●working with a computer as a means of information management; basic knowledge skills in using programmes for the preparation of media production; ●the ability to collect and process information for the preparation of materials of informative journalistic genres; ●first experience in preparing the original layout of a printed newspaper/magazine.
Course content
The course is taught to students in the 3rd year of study, the educational programme "Publishing and Media Editing". It foresees mastering the fundamentals of the publishing theory and editing, awareness of the current market situation and trends, and development of readiness for practical work.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course is divided into 6 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, practical classes, and independent work of students. The 5th semester ends with an assessment (exam), the 6th semester ends with an assessment (the exam is held at the Faculty of Philosophy; the Chair of Publishing and Editing submits the points for the content modules, earned by the students to the Faculty of Philosophy). Knowledge monitoring is carried out according to the ECTS system, which includes a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1, 1.2), which accounts for 70% of the total score and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.4); (communication 3.1, 3.2); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1), which accounts for 30% of the total score.
