Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines "Age Psychology", "Neuropsychology", "Psychopharmacology"; knowledge of the theoretical foundations of clinical psychology and the psychology of communication; possession of basic psychological counseling skills; knowledge of psychodiagnostics.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with a set of research methods, and to provide psychological assistance to children of preschool and elementary school age with post-stress disorders, autism spectrum disorders, mental and language retardation, Down's syndrome with the help of play psychotherapy and behavioral therapy. Students should learn the principles of working with the ABA program, the alternative communication program, Little Steps, etc. and play therapy in a client-centered approach. Familiarize yourself with the use of positive reinforcement techniques, PEKS cards, visual schedules, training of behavior skills in social situations. During the course, the methods of diagnosis and psychological support of children, cooperation with parents, and the creation of a therapeutic community will be learned. Particular attention is paid to work with equipment for play therapy, sensory integration, and alternative communication.
