Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and English fiction and oral folk art, to determine their peculiarities and place in the literary process. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic notions, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activity.

Course content
Complex final exam in English, literature and translation is an exam that is aimed at testing professional knowledge in English studies and is focused on conclusive identification of the English language proficiency level and knowledge of the history and theory of foreign literature by professionals obtaining a bachelor's degree. The purpose of the complex final exam is to establish the actual correspondence of the level of educational and qualification training of the graduate to the requirements of the educational and qualification characteristics of the profession (training program).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Complex final exam in English, literature and translation is composed of four stages, each of which is reflected in corresponding tasks in the examination card. Task 1 presupposes an oral answer to a given literary topic / problem, which includes analysis and interpretation of works of fiction. Task 2 involves a written linguistic-stylistic analysis of an English-language text containing 2,000 printed characters. Task 3 involves the written translation of five composite (complex and / or compound) sentences from English into Ukrainian. Task 4 involves an oral interview on current social, socio-political and diverse cultural topics.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of knowledge, which is manifested in four successive stages, is carried out in accordance with the criteria for assessing students’ answers at the complex final exam in English, literature and translation for the educational qualification level "Bachelor". Questions in the history of foreign literature - a maximum of 30 points. Written linguistic and stylistic analysis – a maximum of 20 points. Sentence translation – a maximum of 20 points. Oral interview - a maximum of 35 points.
