Learning outcomes
PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 17. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret language and speech facts and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized fields of professional activity and / or training.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the content of definition of the notions "standard language", "communication". 2. Be able to comment on the normative characteristics of the Ukrainian standard language. 3. To possess basic skills of linguistic and stylistic differentiation of spheres of professional communication.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students' professional knowledge of the Ukrainian standard language as a resource in the context of foreign language learning and its use in professional communication. Functional and stylistic features of literary language as a resource of Ukrainian professional communication are studied. Common and distinctive features, typical / invariant forms of language for the implementation of the tasks of professional communication in the Ukrainian and English-language communicative discourse are determined. Objectives: students acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the Ukrainian language in the professional communication field analysis, comparison of language implementation of professional communication tasks in Ukrainian and English communicative discourse (media, academic, business, fiction, translations).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered with the help of such activities as oral reports and written tests. The teaching methods are lectures, seminars, creative and research projects, students’ individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final assessment is a pass/fail grade. During the semester, scientific reports, performance of practical tasks, control questioning in the form of open-ended questions on the relevant content parts are evaluated. The total number of points for the final test is 25. To receive an overall positive grade in the discipline, the grade for the test must not be less than 15 points (60%). The students who earn less than 45 points(60 %) are not allowed to take the final test.
