Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages. PLO 6. To apply knowledge of expressive, emotional and logical linguistic means, and speech techniques in order to achieve planned pragmatic results and establish successful communication. PLO 11. To carry out the scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, to interpret and structure it according to the relevant methodological principles, to generalise information on the basis of independently processed data. PLO 14. To create, analyse and edit texts of different styles and genres.

Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide students with basic knowledge of the Urdu language, namely: to develop the skills of reading and writing in Urdu, familiarize with the basics of the normative grammar of Urdu, provide a basic Urdu vocabulary, thereby creating a basis sufficient for: a) understanding simple texts in Urdu and b) development of speaking skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes in the Urdu language involve the development of phonetic, lexical and grammatical skills of students in the process of active work in the classroom. Control of students' mastery of lexical and grammatical material is carried out by means of their oral survey and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written tasks and lexical dictations - 24/40 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points. Final evaluation in the form of exam: max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, the examinational task consists of three questions, viz. 1) grammatical question; 2) conversational topic; 3) reading and oral translation of an unfamiliar text from Urdu to Ukrainian. Students who in total scored less than 36 points during the semester are not allowed to pass the exam.
