Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Hindi language, describe the sociolinguistic situation.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of Hindi texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.
PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them for solving complex problems in specialized fields of professional activity and/or education.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the specialized disciplines "Lingual country studies of the Oriental language", "Oriental language: intermediate level", "Lexicology of the first Oriental language", "Theoretical grammar of the first Oriental language", knowledge of linguistic terminology and laws of language development (from the course "Basics of Linguistics").
Course content
The purpose of the academic discipline is to acquaint students with the main categories of ancient Indian language science, the basic principles of language description in ancient Indian grammars, mastering the lexicographic tradition of ancient India and the principles of lexicological description, familiarization with the methods of linguistic research in the ancient Indian linguistic tradition, with the peculiarities of the influence of the Indian linguistic tradition on the European science of language. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a theoretical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training takes place in the form of interactive lectures, seminar classes. Students' self-study work includes answers to seminar classes, reports with analysis of scientific literature, presentations, essays on topics proposed for study.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment is based on: answers to seminar classes, reports with analysis of scientific literature, presentations, essays – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) to answer two theoretical questions; 2) to complete a practical task. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
