Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To understand the main problems of Hindi philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches.
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Hindi language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Hindi fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of India and Ukraine.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of Hindi texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “Lingual country studies of India”, “Introduction to Hindi Philology”, “Oral and ancient literature of India” ; knowledge of the Hindi language at the intermediate level sufficient for reading and analyzing medieval literary works.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the development of the literary process in the Hindi-speaking territories of India from the time of the initial period of Hindi Adikal literature to the Ritikal period inclusively, to give them an idea of the main patterns of formation and historical development of Hindi literature, its place in the system of world literature and its connections with other literary traditions at different historical stages. The discipline is the second part of the complex discipline "History of Hindi Literature" and has a theoretical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of the students involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries, and tasks of translating fragments of literary works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, reports and presentations / precis – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) to answer two theoretical questions; 2) to translate and analyze a fragment of a literary work. Students, who totally scored less than 36 points during the semester, may not participate in the exam.
