Learning outcomes
1.1 know the history and current state of sociology of education;
1.2 know the basics of general theoretical conclusions and methodological approaches of sociology of education, the content of basic concepts, theoretical positions and key concepts used by sociological science in the field of educational research;
2.1 understand the meaning of the processes taking place in the education system, in particular, at the global, national, local levels;
2.2 identify the main problems and trends in education, independently analyze and summarize social information about the place and role of education in modern world and domestic public life;
3 to publicly present the results of independent work;
4 to independently develop a research project on educational issues on the basis of search and analysis of the results of sociological research.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know modern sociological theories, basics of sociology of culture, social statistics and demography.
2. Have basic skills in using methods of sociological research.

I. Sociology of education as a branch of scientific knowledge.
1 Sociology of education in sociological discourse.
2 Explication of basic sociological approaches to the study of education.

3 Education as a social institution.
4 Organizations in the educational space.
5 Group structure of education: from single to mass.
III. Current issues of modern education.
6 Reforms of educational systems: a comparative perspective.
7 Trends in modern education.
8 Modern social practices and basic models of management of educational systems.

4 presentation of the results of the individual task on topic 4:PH3, PH4: 10/6 points
5 preparation of short reports on topic 5: PH2.1, PH2.2: 2 /1.2 points
6 peer-reviewed articles on topic 6: PH1.2, PH2.1, PH 2.2: 5/3 points
7 analysis of the practical situation on topic 7: PH2.1, PH 2.2: 5/3 points
8 analysis of the practical situation on topic 8: PH 3, PH2.2, PH4: 5/3 points
9 performance of control works: РН1.1, РН1.2, РН2.1, РН2.2, РН4: 20 points /12 (2 works on 10 max. or 6 min. points for everyone)
final assessment: written exam РН1.1, РН1.2, РН2.1, РН2.2, РН4 (ticket contains two parts: the first - tests, the second - problem question / situation) - 40 points (20 max. points or 12 min. points for each ticket issue). The min. score for passing the exam (receiving an overall positive grade) is 24 points
